What would you like to know?

About the association and the help we give

Are you a registered association?

Yes. The soup kitchen operates under the association "Cheder HaChassidim", registration number 580341170. That is the registered name of the association that runs the kitchen. You can also look the association up on GuideStar, Israel's public register of non-profits.

Do you work with social services?

Yes. We work alongside social services in the community. That relationship helps us understand what is needed, coordinate the help, and reach the people and families who need food assistance.

How is it decided who receives help?

We receive requests directly and through social services. Our team looks at the need and matches the help to what we are able to provide, personally and with respect for everyone who approaches us.

How is the privacy of recipients protected?

We are careful to be respectful and discreet. Personal details are used only to provide the help itself, and a photograph or personal story that could identify someone is published only with their consent. Receiving help is never conditional on agreeing to be photographed.

About your donation

What is my donation used for?

Donations keep the kitchen running day to day: buying food, cooking hot meals, serving them, and delivering food to people who cannot come to us. They let us go on providing food, personal attention, and a place at the table.

Does all of the donation go on food?

Donations support everything that gets a meal to the person who needs it. Alongside the food itself there are costs such as packaging, transport and maintaining the premises. We will publish the breakdown of costs from our financial report, stating the reporting year.

Can I give once, or regularly?

Both. You can choose a one-off or a regular donation through the donation options on this site. A regular donation helps us plan ahead and keep the help continuous.

How do I change or stop a regular donation?

Get in touch using the contact details on this site and we will help you change or stop it. How it is done depends on the payment method the regular donation was set up with.

Do I get a receipt?

Yes, a receipt is issued for every donation. If it did not reach you, or a detail needs correcting, contact us with the date and the amount and we will help track it down.

Is the donation tax deductible?

No. The association does not hold approval under Section 46 of the Israeli Income Tax Ordinance, so donations do not qualify for a tax credit under that section. A donation receipt is not a tax credit certificate.

Can I earmark my donation for something specific?

If there is something in particular you want to support, contact us before donating and we will look at the options together. Earmarking is arranged in advance and according to what the work actually needs.

How can I see what donations achieve?

This site shows what we do, with photographs and stories from the kitchen. On the transparency page we also gather documents and annual figures, so you can see a fuller picture of the work and how the money is used.

Other ways to help

Can I donate food or equipment?

Get in touch and we will tell you what is needed right now. These donations are arranged in advance, so we can be sure they suit the kitchen's needs and our storage and handling conditions.

Can I help by volunteering?

Absolutely. Use the volunteering section of this site to tell us how and when you could help, and we will find a way to fit you in around what is needed and when you are free.

Who do I ask if I have another question?

Call or message us on WhatsApp using the numbers on this site. We are happy to answer questions about the work, about donating, and about ways to help.
