A Shabbat meal for people in need

The weekend is a time for family, for the table, and for food made together. That is exactly why going without is felt more keenly then. When there is no way to fill the fridge or make a special meal, Shabbat can turn from an anchor of rest into one more source of worry.

A Shabbat meal for people in need answers the immediate need, but it also gives back something of the familiar feeling of a laid table. A hot dish, a side, a salad and bread can make the weekend more pleasant and more peaceful.

Giving that runs right through the week

For food assistance to be meaningful, it has to be continuous. A distribution before Shabbat completes the meals given during the week and lets families and older people be provided for on the days when the usual services are closed.

A regular donation towards Shabbat meals helps us plan quantities, buy provisions and pack the portions in time. A one-off donation helps too, especially at times when the need grows.

A Shabbat with dignity

Food is the basis, but the way it is served matters just as much. Clean packaging, a tasty portion and personal attention let the person receiving help keep their privacy and their sense of dignity.
